How to Apply for CDCP in Ottawa

BluSky Dental Richardson

BluSky Bee

You apply for the Canadian Dental Care Plan through the Government of Canada. BluSky Richardson can discuss dental care after your coverage is established, but an appointment request is not a CDCP application.

How to apply for CDCP in Ottawa

Begin at the official application page. Applications are open for the 2026–2027 benefit period as of September 24, 2026. Use the current government instructions if you are reading this later.

1. Check the requirements

Review CDCP eligibility before starting. If you are unsure about workplace coverage, tax filing or another benefit programme, resolve the question with the appropriate administrator or Service Canada.

Do not cancel insurance or answer an uncertain question simply to complete the form more quickly. The information should reflect your actual circumstances.

2. Gather the requested details

The government application asks for personal details for the applicant and relevant family information, including identity, address and existing government dental coverage. Review the official list so you know what to have available.

A spouse or common-law partner needs their own application to receive coverage; providing their information in yours does not automatically apply for them. Keep sensitive records in the official application process rather than sending them to the dental office through a general message.

3. Choose an official application channel

You can apply using My Service Canada Account, the Canada.ca application option or Service Canada by phone. The current application page provides the correct links and contact details. There is no government fee to apply or renew.

If someone is helping you, follow the programme's consent or delegate requirements. The right process depends on whether the person is helping you complete the steps or has legal authority to act for you.

4. Keep the response and check the start date

Save your application confirmation and read subsequent letters carefully. A submitted application is not active coverage. Check the decision, member information and date from which benefits can be used before assuming an appointment will be covered.

If more information is requested, respond through the official channel. The clinic cannot speed up an eligibility decision by submitting a treatment estimate.

5. Arrange your dental visit

Tell the Richardson team that you plan to use CDCP, provide the member information needed for verification and describe your dental concern. Ask about provider billing arrangements and your expected portion of the cost before treatment.

Already a member? Review the programme's current renewal instructions rather than assuming membership continues automatically. Our CDCP FAQs address missed renewals and other common situations.

Keep application and appointment confirmations separate

Save both records so you can distinguish the programme decision from the clinic booking. Neither confirmation replaces the other, and each may contain a date or instruction you need to follow.

Contact Richardson when you are ready to discuss the dental appointment.
